All Varsity Choir members are required to participate in the All-State process.
All other Choir members are highly encouraged to participate in the All-State process
The TMEA All-State Choir consists of the top High School choir singers in the entire state of Texas.
Those who participate in this process go through a series of four auditions: District, Region, Pre-Area, and Area. Auditionees advance from one level to the next.
Singers will learn 8 pieces of music and audition on these 8 pieces throughout the entire process (each round will audition on 3-4 songs) and will need to sight-sing as part of their audition at the Pre-Area and Area levels.
When singers advance past Region auditions, they sing in the Region 33 Choir in November!
When singers advance past Area auditions, they sing in the All-State Choir Concert at the Texas Music Educator Association Convention in February in San Antonio, Texas!
This process is a wonderful way to strengthen your musicianship and become a better singer.
Auditions are held throughout our district, region, and area which allows you to meet other choir students from different schools.
Participating in the All-State process gives you Letterman Jacket points and patches! Letterman jackets are not reserved for just Juniors and Seniors. You could have a Letterman jacket as a Freshman!
